Message from the Director
It is with great excitement that I welcome you to the Lee County Community Orchestra's 2009-2010 season! With the combined efforts of our supportive board members, dedicated volunteers, and passionate musicians, I assure you that as the orchestra's new music director, I will continue to fulfill the LCCO's mission to nourish and enrich the lives of our audiences through music.
This season we embark on a journey around the world. In October, we will spend a "Day in Vienna" with the uplifting music of such esteemed composers as Mozart, Mendelssohn, and members of the Strauss family. As the holidays approach, the LCCO will envelop you in the dance music of Tchaikovsky, Balakirev, and Glinka during a "Day in Russia." Come March, Joe Hanna, local harpist, will join the LCCO for a "Day in France", featuring music by Debussy, Bizet, and Massenet. Finally, as the warm, North Carolina summer creeps in, we will return home and spend "A Day in the U.S.A." In celebration of Armed Forces Day we will perform a spectacular selection of music by Copland, Sousa, and other traditional favorites that are sure to make you proud to be an American!
As always, our concerts are free and accessible to all. While we are unable to physically transport you to these destinations, we guarantee that you will enjoy our "musical excursions"!
